The cover art, featuring a \u201csplit\u201d skateboard has been designed (see snapshot above). A fun fact of this release is that both bands contain members of the original DISFUNCTION SKATEBOARDING TEAM<\/strong><\/em> (Josh, Seth, and Dave) that evolved into the horror-punk\/thrash band we have today. <\/p>\n

I play guitar and perform some backup vocals on the Disfunction<\/strong> tracks of the SPLIT, and I also wrote the song, \u201cRoad Warrior\u201d and co-wrote the instrumental \u201cInflux I\u201d with Disfunction\u2019s previous drummer, Tiffany. Our new drumer, Jon, has a take on the song that is reminiscent of the slower side of crossover-style DRI, which fits Disfunction like a glove. A new version of \u201cNecro-Viral Frenzy\u201d is also included. Jon, who has played drums with Disfunction for nearly 2 years, also played guitar on the Filthy Dix tracks. (In fact, he came to be our drummer following his guitar recording sessions for this split about 2 years ago!) Disfunction\u2019s tracks here have a raw, gritty, and direct hardcore punk\/thrash sound, closer to the 2016 \u2018More Than Meets The Eye\u2019\/\u2019Paranoid\u2019 single than the \u2018Horrorpunks in 21\u2019 ep in tone, but harder-hitting. I am especially excited to see the release of this new recording of \u2018Road Warrior\u2019, which closes the split. <\/p>\n

On the Filthy Dix<\/strong> side of the SPLIT, I am happy to report that the recordings capture their energy and spirit along with the best performances I have ever heard from them. Drummer Dave did a great job laying down the drums, which were captured on a Roland machine by Seth and Josh of Disfunction alongside a BBQ party. Subsequent sessions with Jamie (bass) and Jon (guitar) were filled with exuberance, and I was impressed with Jon\u2019s application of \u201cGreg Ginn\u201d buzzsaw rhythm and somewhat improvised lead parts. The Split EP starts off on the Dix side with \u201cYou Can\u2019t Kickflip\u201d \u2013 a fan favorite and a fitting beginning for this skater-oriented release. The building and cathartic \u201cShow The Boss\u201d contains some funny one-liners and mob-style vocals from everyone involved in the making of this Split. The surf-style instrumental that follows begins with an off-mic guitar riff and closes out the Dix\u2019s side with a showing of the fun and throwback \u201cdrunk punk\u201d nature that really marks their performances and differentiates them in the Orlando\/Sanford, FL punk rock scene\u2026 Flip the tape over, and you hear the the opening sounds of Disfunction\u2019s \u201cInflux\u201d\u2026<\/p>\n

After many performances together, two of Sanford\u2019s favorite local hardcore\/punk bands are finally publicly releasing their Split EP to commemorate the creativity and fun times we\u2019ve had together at DIY punk rock shows over the past few years.
